ඉදිරි ජනාධිපතිවරණයේදී ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ අපේක්ෂකයාට සහාය දීම හැර ශ්‍රී ලංකා නිදහස් පක්ෂයට වෙන විකල්පයක් නොමැති බව පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී රංජිත් සියඹලාපිටිය මහතා පවසයි. ශ්‍රීලනිපයට තනිවම ජනාධිපතිවරණයට තරග කළ නොහැකි බවත්, එසේම ජනාධිපතිවරණයේදී නිහඬව සිටීම ද කළ නොහැකි බවත් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා පෙන්වා දෙයි.

ඉදිරි ජනාධිපතිවරණ කටයුතු වෙනුවෙන් එක්සත් ජාතික පෙරමුණේ ලේකම් ධුරය සදහා අමාත්‍ය රාජිත සේනාරත්න පත් කර තිබෙනවා. අග‍්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයාගේ ප‍්‍රධානත්වයෙන් එක්සත් ජාතික පෙරමුණේ ජේ්‍යෂ්ඨයින් සමග අරලිය ගහ මන්දිරයේ ඊයේ පැවති සාකච්ඡාවකදී රාජිත සේනාරත්න අමාත්‍යවරයා එම තනතුරට පත් කිරීමට තීරණය කෙරුණා.

ජනතාව මත පටවා ඇති බදු බර අඩු කිරීමට ඉදිරි රජයක් යටතේ තමන් කටයුතු කරන බව ශී‍්‍ර ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ ජනාධිපති අපේක්‍ෂක ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්‍ෂ පවසනවා.
