“I will run for president” – Dhammika!

Renowned businessman Dhammika Perera, who is planning to contest the forthcoming presidential election as United National Front’s (UNF) common candidate, has already started his election campaign.

lankanewsweb.net revealed Dhammika Perera’s plans to run for president.

According to weekend newspaper ‘Deshaya’, Dhammika had informed opposition leaders and President Maithripala Sirisena that he is contesting the upcoming presidential election as UNF’s common candidate.

Furthermore, he had reportedly told MP Namal Rajapaksa and two senior staff members of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa that he was invited to contest the presidential election as common candidate and that he accepted it.

Dhammika Perera had reportedly talked with one of the senior staff members of the Opposition Leader for over two and a half hours, and had said that he is expecting to meet with Mahinda Rajapaksa to inform of his decision.

Social media reports started circulating following Dhammika Perera’s meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

At the meeting, Dhammika Perera had been reportedly invited to run for president.

On several occasions, Dhammika Perera spoke on social media about his expectations to serve the public. However, he didn’t talk about his plan to run for president openly.

It is said that after studying how Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi used social media for his elections, Dhammika Perera has paid more attention to social media campaigns. Dhammika Perera had taken necessary steps to circulate a series of social media videos speaking about the prevailing crisis situation in the country.
