The Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID) recorded a five hour statement from Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.
According to the Police Media division, Minister Bathiudeen had arrived at the FCID around 10.00am and had given the statement and left around 4.30 pm.
The FCID is investigating a complaint against Minister Bathiudeen alleging financial misappropriation during the importation of 257,000MT of rice for Lak Sathosa during the years 2014/15.
Subsequent to recording the statement Minister Bathiudeen speaking to the media had this to say.
