22,000 jobs for graduates - PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that employment opportunities will be provided to 22,000 graduates.

at the Temple Tress during the establishment of the Palmyra Development Fund the Premier said this fund will help fast-track development in the North and East.

The fund is expected to disburse Rs 5 billion within two years for the construction of roads, bridges, drainage systems, and even anchorages across these areas, the Prime Minister's office said.

These graduates will be deployed to fast-track the development mechanism of the public who are facing socio-economic issues due to different factors and majority will be allocated to North and Eastern provinces, he said.

Special development process - Mangala

Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera addressing the event stated that so far the development processes of Sri Lanka had been focused on particular areas and a special development process will be implemented with the intention of developing all areas equally.

Number of dignitaries including leader of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP R. Sampanthan, Non-Cabinet Minister of Economic Reforms and Public Distribution Harsha de Silva, State Minister of Vijayakala Maheswaran, parliamentarians Selvam Adaikkalanathan, S. Shritharan, Secretary to the Ministry of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs V. Sivagnanasothy had also joined this event.
