French company steps into  install 23 steel bridges  countrywide.

Sri Lanka government will be going ahead with building 1000 bridges countrywide to tackle traffic congestion and provide benefits to the people.


This Programme was launched during the previous Rajapaksa regime and it has now been renewed with French assistance.
Ellipse Projects SAS France has been entrusted with the installation of 23 prefabricated modular steel bridges in various parts the island
This comaany will be supplying and fixing 23 priority bridges in selected areas with the objective of minimizing the traffic congestion, highway accidents, as well as escalating vehicular monitoring cost.

M/s Ellipse Projects SAS establishment in France has presented a proposal for implementation of the relevant project . .
It has become necessary to widen narrow bridges and reconstruct dilapidated bridges to suit improved road network with the increasing in the number of vehicles.

Financial aid amounting to Euros 22 million was granted by the French Government in 2014 for the purpose of widening and reconstructing 46 bridges in dilapidated condition in Sri Lanka and bridges to be reconstructed were selected on priority basis covering various regions in the island.

The construction work of 28 bridges under the Reconstruction Program of 46 bridges implemented in Sri Lanka under French aid has been completed but there was no reports relating to the continuation of this project.

No one knows about the unutilized balance money for this 46 bridge building project under taken by. Uni bridge Agency of France.

A cabinet committee will be appointed for the evaluation of the 23 priority bridges programme to be implemented by Ellipse Projects SAS France and to inquire into the missing money o f46 bridges construction project suspended during the previous UNF regime.
