Sabeetha’s husband soon to be arrested?

The D.P. Jayasinghe building at No. 288, Sri Jayawardenapura Road, Kotte which was rented to the Agriculture Ministry for Rs. 1524.44 million flouting the procurement code, without transparency and exceeding valuations, is said to be an illegal construction.

The Auditor General has recommended that a proper investigation be carried out regarding the decision taken by certain parties to rent out this building.

While the Agriculture Ministry owns a one hectare land in Battaramulla, without constructing a building there, the government parties had agreed to pay Rs. 21 million per month for this building amounting to Rs. 1260 million for the five year period, the audit revealed.

Documents against Sabeetha’s husband to the CID

The Agriculture Ministry is said to have decided to submit the documents pertaining to this agreement and the owner of this building D.P. Jayasinghe, the husband of famous actress Sabeetha Perera, to the CID.

Although this building has been built exceeding the specified height and number of floors without approval, the audit revealed that the relevant institutions had failed to take action against the building owners.

Despite the furniture belonging to the Agriculture Ministry being in good usable condition, they had been given to another state institution and Rs. 114.6 million was spent to purchase furniture and equipment for this building, the audit report revealed.
