FitsAir  launches Colombo –Jaffna domestic flight operations

Turning a new chapter in the domestic aviation industry,a new flight service between Colombo and Jaffna international airports has been launched yesterday (Saturday).

This new service began in line with the government’s policy of improving domestic flight services in the country, the Minister of Industry, Export, Investment Promotion and Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga said.

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in his election manifesto ‘Visions of Prosperity’ has assured that the country’s internal aviation will be expanded.

Accordingly, the government has focused its attention on enhancing domestic flights to and from Jaffna, Batticaloa, Mattala and Katunayake airports.

The Minister also pointed out that the new domestic service to Jaffna-Palaly airport will be launched in accordance with this program.

According to Chief Airport Manager of Ratmalana Airport, Aruna Rajapaksa, FitsAir operates the flight service three days a week on every Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.

The flight will depart Jaffna from Ratmalana at 7.30 am and arrive at Palaly Airport in Jaffna at 8.30 am. The return flight will depart Jaffna at 9.30 am for Ratmalana.

Accordingly, the first flight from Ratmalana Airport to Jaffna will take place tomorrow morning at 7.30.

The domestic flight from Ratmalana targets the international flight between Jaffna and Chennai from the Palaly Airport in Jaffna.

A passenger traveling from Colombo to Jaffna will be charged Rs. 7,500 and the round trip will cost Rs. 15,000.
