Gadgets from Singapore to investigate Ranjan’s recordings

The Police Headquarters is said to be importing high tech communication devices from Singapore for the analysis of MP Ranjan Ramanayake’s phone recordings amounting to over 100,000 as the Police Department does not have equipment with the capacity to analyze such a large capacity.

The Government Analyst has been sent these recordings to be copied, but as the available equipment is not sufficient to handle this capacity, the new equipment has been ordered.

The new devices are expected to arrive in the country within the next few days.

Ten special police teams were appointed recently, including an ASP to investigate the telephone recordings that was seized from Ramanayake and sent to the Government Analyst.

Recordings sent to Australia too

Meanwhile, Ranjan Ramanayake said that some tapes are placed in a secure location and also in Australia and could be produced at any required instance.

The MP had said this to a weekend newspaper.

He had said that he had kept these phone recordings in view of the promises made to the people by the Good Governance government and as they had betrayed the people by protecting the corrupt and thieves. Hence, he had said that he was doing this on behalf of the people and in keeping with his pledge to the people. Ramanayake had requested that a presidential commission be appointed to investigate this issue and he has expressed willingness to appear before such a commission and reveal everything.
