CEB to purchase 300 MW of power

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has decided to purchase 300 MW of power from the private sector, it is reported.

The said power purchase would be done for a period of six months.

The said proposal for the purchase of power would be submitted for Cabinet approval and thereafter, once approval has been obtained, tenders would be called.

According to a senior CEB official, this power purchase would be made from the private sector until substantial rains arrive.
