Sri Lanka Air Force asset management to be streamlined

Sri Lanka Air Force asset management is to be streamlined following recent revelation of government audit report. Measures will be taken to arrest short comings under the new administration, official sources said.

A loss of Rs 74.76 million had been incurred by the Sri Lanka Air Force, as a result of misplacing of Rader Receiver and an Antenna Scanner while transporting by air to China on 25 April 2014 for repairing purposes, government audit inspection revealed.

A preliminary report in this connection had been furnished on 31 August 2015 and no further action had been taken even as at 31 December 2018.

Meanwhile action had been taken by the Civil Security Department of the Air Force to construct a new building Headquaters office at Molpe in Panadura.

The land of the building constructed was belongs to a temple and acquired on lease basis for 30 years period.

Further, the clauses were included in the lease agreement to transfers the ownership of the building to the temple, after end of the period of the lease, the report said.

This matter will be rectified soon along with several other irregularities detected in the recent past.
