Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal said that Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa scheduled meeting with IMF in Washington DC next month ‘not for the purpose of debt restructuring’.
“Meetings of Sri Lankan authorities with @IMFNews officials over the next few weeks are NOT for the purpose of #debt restructuring as stated by some news agencies,” the CB Governor stated in a Twitter massage.
Reuters news agency quoting three unnamed sources earlier reported that SriLanka would seek IMF help for debt restructuring and managing Forex crunch.
