Sajith's group's proposals submitted to from alliance

Sajith's group's proposals for constitutional changes in the proposed Democratic National Front (DNF) were submitted by United National Party (UNP) Chairman Kabir Hashim on Friday (23).

Accordingly, UNP leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday that the formation of the alliance is now in its final stages.

The Prime Minister made these comments while addressing the meeting held after the opening of the Ankumbura road development project and the opening of the new bus stand.

He further stated that the launching of the alliance's policies and announcing the candidate will be done in parallel.

Wickremesinghe said all political parties joining the alliance will do so while protecting their party identity.

It is said that Minister Hashim has submitted the proposed amendments to Minister Rajitha Senaratne.

Representing the proposed alliance partners, Minister Senaratne is in the process of preparing the final draft of the DNF constitution.

However, it is reported that there is no definite conclusion as to whether the candidate will be nominated before or after the forming of the alliance.

Meanwhile, speaking at the meeting in Ankumbura, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawaka said that the UNP should nominate a candidate who can definitely win the upcoming presidential election and they will extend their support who that is.

Alliance will be formed within 2 weeks - Kiriella

Speaking at the meeting, Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Public Enterprise, Kandyan Heritage and Kandy Development and Leader of the House of Parliament, said that all necessary arrangements have already been made for the formation of the alliance and the alliance would be formed within the next two weeks.
