On the request of the Mission, Sri Lankans living in Turkey and the Honorary Consuls of Erzurum, Alanya, Bursa and Istanbul donated medical equipment to be used for the government hospitals in Sri Lanka to curb Covid-19 pandemic.

The performance themed ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’ was staged at Al Wasl Plaza at the Stage of Nations of Expo 2020 Dubai. Foreign Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga represented Sri Lanka and UAE Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh represented the Government of the United Arab Emirates at the ceremony. Sri Lanka is using the six-month long Expo 2020 to promote trade, investments and tourism.

ඉන්දියාවේ ප්‍රධාන නගර ආශ්‍රිතව මේ වන විට ඔමික්‍රෝන් කොවිඩ් ප්‍රභේදය සීඝ්‍රයෙන් පැතිර යමින් ඇතැයි එරට මාධ්‍ය වාර්තා කරනවා. මුම්බායි, දිල්ලි සහ කොල්කටා ඒ අතරින් ප්‍රධානයි. ප්‍රධාන නගරවලින් වාර්තා වන කොවිඩ් ආසාදිතයින්ගෙන් සියයට 75 ක් ඔමික්‍රෝන් ආසාදිතයින් බවටයි හඳුනාගෙන ඇත්තේ.

වෙළද අමාත්‍ය බන්දුල ගුණවර්ධන ඇතුළු රජයේ නියෝජිත පිරිසක් මෙම මස අගභාගයේ පාකිස්ථානයේ සංචාරයක නිරිත වීමට නියමිතව තිබෙනවා. ඒ, දෙරටේ වෙළද හා අයෝජන සබඳතා වැඩිදියුණු කර ගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් සාකච්ඡා කිරීම සඳහායි.

ඩෙල්ටා සහ ඔමික්‍රොන් ප්‍රභේද එක්වී සුනාමියක් ලෙස පැතිර යමින් ඇති බව ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානය පවසනවා. එහි ප්‍රධානී ටෙඩ්රෝස් ආදනම් පැවසුවේ එය ඉතා භයානක තත්ත්වයක් බවයි. අමෙරිකාව හා යුරෝපා රටවල කොවිඩ් ව්‍යාප්තිය සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානයේ ප්‍රධානියා මේ බව සඳහන් කළා.

As a follow up to Dubai Expo event , Sri Lanka is planning to launch a major investment drive in the United Arab Emirates in March with the involvement of the Colombo Port City and the Board of Investment (BOI).
