Indian companies called on to strengthen existing ties with Sri Lanka

Indian companies have been called upon to strengthen existing partnerships, while also looking for new opportunities for collaboration.

Head of Economic & Commercial Wing, High Commission of India, Ms. Suja K. Menon has made this clarion call when she addressed a Video Conference (VC) on post Covid prospects in Colombo today.

It was organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry today on the opportunities for Indian companies in Sri Lanka in the post pandemic economic situation.

She noted that some of the Indian companies, who have their presence in Sri Lanka for many decades, have been pillars of support for the Sri Lankan economy, bringing in investments and technology and skill sets and creating local employment opportunities.

Likewise, many Sri Lankan companies have also marked their robust presence in the Indian market

Ms. Menon underlined the fact that Sri Lanka moved to an Upper Middle Income Country last year, as classified by World Bank.

Sri Lanka also has commendable social indicators. She noted that the economic difficulties caused by COVID-19 crisis across the globe calls for concerted efforts.
