Indian Prime Minister Modi thanks Gotabaya

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for contributing $ 5 million to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Corona Emergency Fund.

Modi tweeted saying the cooperation will go a long way in fighting the disease effectively.

“Sincerely thank President of Sri Lanka @GotabayaR for contributing $ 5 million to the SAARC COVID-19 Emergency Fund. Our cooperation will go a long way in fighting this disease effectively,” Modi tweeted.

The SAARC Corona Emergency Fund was proposed by Modi.

India made an initial offer of USD 10 million to help combat the fast-spreading COVID-19 pandemic in the region.

President today pledged to contribute USD 5 million to the Fund. (Colombo Gazette)
