China donates Rs. 10M for 21/4 children victims

The ‘Ray of Hope’ Musical Night was held at Shangri-la Hotel on Saturday (26), to commemorate the 135th anniversary of the Attorney General’s Department and raise funds for the children who suffered in the April 21 attacks, a communique issued by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka said.

As the Platinum Sponsor, the Chinese Embassy donated Rs. 10 million for the education of the children affected by the Easter attacks. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya graced the occasion as chief guest and guest of honour.

Chinese Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan, in his speech, said: “For a country, judiciary and the law is the ‘Ray of Hope’; for China-Sri Lanka relations, friendship and cooperation are the ‘Ray of Hope’; and for children, love and support are their ‘Ray of Hope’. The Ambassador also briefed about the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries as well as the emergency aid provided by China after April 21 Attacks.
