Sri Lankan Ambassador to the USA Mahinda Samarasinghe met with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) CEO Scott Nathan recently to explore avenues for deeper collaboration aimed at boosting Sri Lanka’s economic growth with potential areas of collaboration.
These areas included refinancing commercial loans, environmental projects, women’s empowerment initiatives and food security programs. Following a significant investment in the Colombo Port expansion, Sri Lanka seeks to broaden its partnership with (DFC). DFC recently invested USD 553 million for the development of the West Container Terminal at the Colombo Port with support from the Adani Group and leading Sri Lankan blue chip company John Keells Holdings. This substantial investment will not only create an additional deep water terminal in the Colombo Port but would also generate significant employment opportunities and income generation activities.
