Saemaul Undong Seminar 2019

“Saemaul Undong Seminar 2019” organized by Saemaul Globalization Foundation was held recently at “MILODA” Academy of Financial Studies under the theme of “ Saemaul Development Goals for Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations “.

Addressing the occasion Secretary General of Saemaul Globalization Foundation, Lee Sang Wook said that South Korea and Sri Lanka have maintained amicable bilateral relationship for over 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1977.

According to him, the seminar has been organized to strengthen operation on Saemaul Undong between two countries to further promote rural development on Sri Lanka.

He further said that the Saemaul Globalization Foundation has already implemented numerous rural development projects in Sri Lanka at the request of Ministry of Economic Development.

“So far we have created four pilot villages in Sri Lanka and dispatched 36 Saemaul leaders to promote Saemaul Undong . If these projects would be successful, we will continue to expand Saemaul Globalization projects in Sri Lanka.” the Secretary General added.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka Lee Heon, Secretary to the Ministry of Primary Industries and Social Empowerment Ashoka Alawatte, Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs Additional Secretary R.H.W.A.Kumarasiri, Former Secretary Ministry of Higher Education Sunil Jayantha Nawaratne, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Chief Secretary D.M.Malani and many other officials participated in this occasion.
