Saudi Arabia has refuted a statement made by Western Province Governor Dr. Hemakumara Nanayakkara that Saudi Arabia was providing Sri Lankan Muslims loans at very low-interest rates.
The statement was made by Nanayakkara on a local TV station alleging that Muslims were given soft loans at an interest rate of 1 percent.
The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Colombo issued a press release noting all financial contributions to Sri Lanka adding that the contributions were for specific development projects and providing a better quality of life to citizens in Sri Lanka.
