Given the situation, maximum retail price of eggs has been reduced to Rs. 10 with immediate effect, the Prime Minister’s Media Division said.
The Prime Minister’s Media Division in a statement said the All Island Egg Producers’ Association (AIEPA) had agreed to supply adequate stock to quarantine centres, following a request made by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The AIEPA has agreed to supply enough eggs for food processing at quarantine centres, it said.
Quoting the AIEPA President, the Prime Minister’s Media Division said that considering the prevailing situation the AIEP has decided to reduce the maximum price of eggs with immediate effect.
“Adequate stocks are available at every Sathosa Co-operative store and 450 lorries have distributed islandwide,” it said.
The AIEPA requested consumers to contact authorities on 0372293300 to inform about vendors selling eggs at a higher price.
