The Government yesterday assured there was no fuel shortage and sufficient stocks existed in the country.
The Government Information Department releasing a statement said the Government had ensured there were adequate stocks of fuel and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporate (CPC) was continuing fuel distribution as normal.
“There have been rumours circulating of a possible fuel shortage but the Power and Energy Ministry has assured there is sufficient stocks within the country and therefore there is no need for the public to be concerned,” the statement said.
The Government also called on people to refrain from stocking up on fuel unnecessarily as panic buying could trigger shortages.
