SLT Chairman and the clan  come under protest over  irregular recruitment

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) employees are up in arms over Chairman P.G Kumarasinghe Sirisena violating recruitment and promotion procedures holding on to his position using the power of his brother Maithripala Sirisena former President of this country.

Kumarasinghe Sirisena has been accused of appointing a group chief internal auditor with effect from November 1 ignoring the treasury directive of suspending all new appointments and promotions of state owned institutions before and after presidential elections.

SLT employees stage protest demonstration in front of its head quarters on Monday 16 after conducting meeting convened to create awareness on arbitrary actions of Chairman P.G Kumarasinghe Sirisena.

Telecommunication Engineers Union (TEU ) in a letter to CEO SLT noted that back door recruitment attempt is being made under the cover of standard recruitment procedure of the SLT by the top management on the directions of the Chairman.

TEU leaders said that SLT Chairman is making valiant attempt to recruit his son as an engineer without following proper procedures before he leaves the SLT .

SLT Trade Union Joint action front comprising 8 trade unions has demanded the authorities to immediately remove corrupted and weak tom management officials including the Chairaman Kumarasinghe Sirisena and board director Kanishka Senanayake who are glued to their seats.

They also requested the government to appoint eminent qualified persons with a vision and experience to hold high posts of the SLT removing the resent chairman and board director using the majority share holding power of the treasury.
