One more COVID-19 patient adds up to 824 positive cases

One more person has tested positive for COVID-19 as of 11.58 pm on Thursday (07), says the Ministry of Health.

The total count of coronavirus cases in the country has thereby reached 824.

Out of the 27 positive cases of coronavirus confirmed on Thursday, 25 are reportedly from Sri Lanka Navy. The other two positive cases have been identified as a child who had come into contact with naval personnel and a person who was repatriated from Dubai on Thursday (07).

In the meantime, Sri Lanka has confirmed 232 recoveries and 9 fatalities from the disease.

The Epidemiology Unit says that 583 active cases are currently under medical care at selected hospitals across the country.

Sri Lanka saw the highest daily surge in confirmed COVID-19 cases on April 27, with 65 new infections. The tally went up from 523 to 588 just within 24 hours.
