Masks made compulsory

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) has issued an order mandating the wearing of masks while traveling.

Acting Inspector General of Police C D Wickramaratne has ordered all senior police officers and police stations to redirect people traveling on roads without a mask.

Regardless of the possession of curfew permits or other permits allowing travel the order will be implemented.

The order has been issued by the Acting IGP considering the safety of the police officers and the security forces.

Meanwhile, police spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne said that 141 police officers have already been sent to self-quarantine.
