A poll to gauge public response to the death sentence being implemented was held digitally within the Presidential Media booth at the Enterprise Sri Lanka exhibition held in Jaffna. In this poll, 94.89% voted in favour of the implementation of the death penalty.
Over 20,000 visitors had participated in this poll, while only around 5% had voted against the implementation of the death penalty.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera was also among those who opposed the implementation of the death penalty.
Minister Sajith Premadasa had refrained from casting his vote.
