The military says a report circulating on social media warning of a threat from Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was not credible.
The Army urged the public not to panic after the report, bearing the seal of a state institution, was shared widely on social media.
The report was said to be an internal memo shared at a state institution and warned of an attack at an economic center.
Military Spokesman Brigadier Chandana Wickrmesinghe said the security forces are on alert with regard to such threats.
Following the Easter Sunday terror attacks in 2019, similar claims have been circulating, but have not been verified. (Colombo Gazette)
