Pvt. busses refuse to commence services

The Sri Lanka Transport Board notes that 5,700 busses will be deployed for the working crowd using public transport for work travel today.

3000 busses have been used in 21 districts named as low-risk areas while 2,700 have been used for the Western province and Puttalam district.

Long distance bus services between districts will not commence, the SLTB notes.

Meanwhile, private bus owners say that they are unable to commence transport services.

Not receiving relief and having to deal with a workers' crisis have been cited as reasons.

Lanka Private Bus Owners Association President, Gemunu Wijeratne stated that buses will run at a loss when transporting passengers according to health guideline.

Registered train travel commence

Meanwhile, a special system has been introduced for employees who wish to travel by train to their offices.

According to the Railway Department, those who have already applied for train travel via their respective institutes, would have received a SMS by yesterday.
