The Ambassador designate of Israel to Sri Lanka, based on New Delhi, H.E Reuven Javier Azar called on the Hon. Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne recently (21) at Parliament premises.
During the meeting, Ambassador Azar congratulated Dr. Wickramaratne on his appointment and conveyed the warm wishes of the Israeli Speaker. The discussion focused on expanding cooperation between Sri Lanka and Israel in key sectors, including tourism, agriculture, science, digital technology, trade and investment and medical fields.
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of revival of the Sri Lanka-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Association in the near future, as a means to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
During the cordial discussion Hon. Speaker Dr. Wickramaratne expressed his views on the enduring relevance of Buddhist philosophy, highlighting that its teachings continue to offer valuable insights for fostering world peace and harmony.
Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera and Honorary Consul of Israel to Sri Lanka Mr. Dinesh Rodrigo were also present on the occasion.
