Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday spoke to Afghanistan former President Hamid Karzai and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s continued support to the people of Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover.
PM Rajapaksa in a Twitter message said that he spoke to Hamid Karzai to inquire about the ongoing developments unfolding in his country and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s support for Afghans.
The Taliban took control of Kabul last Sunday after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country. Currently, the situation in Afghanistan is unstable and the Taliban leaders are discussing future Government plans in Doha, according to Afghan media.
