World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director to Sri Lanka Aburrahim Siddiqui presented his credentials to Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on 3 May at the Foreign Ministry.
The 50th anniversary of the long-standing relationship between the Government of Sri Lanka and the World Food Programme falls in November this year.
Accepting the credentials, Gunawardena said that Brenda Barton, who served previously as Sri Lanka’s Country Director to the World Food Programme had done an excellent job and that Sri Lanka expected similar cooperation from the new Country Director.
Siddiqui said Sri Lanka and WFP would work to further strengthen the existing close and friendly relationship.
