Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will arrive today (23) on a two-day State visit, the first by a world leader after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed office last year. Premier Khan, in his maiden official visit this year outside the country, will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Sohail Mehmood, senior officials of the Pakistan Government, as well as a high-powered business and investment delegation.
The Pakistani Prime Minister acknowledged the visit following an invitation extended by Sri Lanka Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
During his visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend bilateral meetings with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Both Premiers will together preside over an event to sign several mutually beneficial bilateral Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) today, following their official talks at the Temple Trees.
Khan will also attend several other high-level engagements, including a business and investment forum tomorrow, as well as a sports diplomacy initiative.
The high-powered business and investment delegation will consist of business leaders in Pakistan, representing sectors of textile and apparel, pharmaceuticals, agro-food commodities, sports goods, gems and jewellery, auto parts, ICT, construction material and surgical equipment.
