Cabinet this week approved three suppliers of fertiliser for the Yala season starting in April.
Procurement of Urea (Granular) 40,500 ± 5% metric tons under a 270-day loan period has been awarded to the Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises Ltd. for $ 343.10 per metric ton.
Supply of Urea (Prilled) 8,500 ± 5% metric tons under a 180-day loan period has been awarded to the Swiss Singapore Valency International Ltd. for $ 364.74 per metric ton.
Agricultural Resources and Investments Ltd. was awarded the contract for Urea (Muriate of Potash) 13,900 ± 5% metric tons under a 180-day loan period for $ 258.74 per metric ton.
The finalisation follows international competitive bids received for supply of chemical fertiliser to the Ceylon Fertilizer Company (Lak Pohora) Ltd., and Colombo Commercial Fertilizer Ltd.
The proposal was submitted to Cabinet by the Minister of Agriculture as recommended by the Standing Committee on Procurement appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
