State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal yesterday told Parliament that the Government has no plans to sell the Bank of Ceylon headquarters in Fort to a foreign buyer.
He said rumours to this effect have been spread by the opposition to mislead the public.
“The opposition is making these false allegations with the objective of implying that the Bank of Ceylon, which is a prime State bank, is on the verge of collapsing. Misleading the public this way will have a negative effect on the economy. I sincerely request the opposition not to mislead people, and support us to revive the country’s economy,” said Money, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms State Minister Cabraal.
