PHI strike called off

Public Health Inspectors' (PHIs) Union of Sri Lanka has decided to postpone the island-wide strike scheduled from tomorrow for two weeks today.

The Executive Committee of the Union met yesterday and has also decided to inform the Health Ministry to compile strict and essential laws to combat the Covid-19 pandemic within that two-week period.

While refusing all the allowances suggested for the PHIs by the Health Ministry, the Union has also reached a decision to donate the one-day wage of all the Public Health Inspectors to the National Fund to Prevent Covid-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.

The PHIs will extend their fullest contribution with no condition to win the battle against Coronavirus in the country, the Union further emphasized.
