Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) have threatened to withdraw from Covid-19 related work, raising several concerns including not being provided minimum protective facilities such as facemasks and hand sanitizing substances.
In a statement, the Public Health Inspectors’ Union of Sri Lanka said that they have been engaging in Covid-19 related work without seeking any additional benefits and their work not only placed themselves at risk, but also their families.
The union expressed disappointment over the failure of the health authorities to recognise the efforts of PHIs despite briefing health minister - Pavithra Wanniarachchi on this regard last Sunday.
The union said that if their concerns are not addressed within today (02) they will withdraw from epidemic prevention related work from April 04.
