The Inter-company Employees' Union (ICEU) President Wasantha Samarasinghe says that a series of protest demonstrations will be held islandwide from tomorrow (02).
The agitations are held to urge the government to provide employment opportunities for the employees who lost their jobs in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic.
The initial protest demonstration will be held in front of the Hambantota Labour office tomorrow.
Mr. Samarasinghe notes that a considerable number of factories have been closed down and 300,000 employees who were employed on casual, temporary and contract basis have lost their jobs.
