Three Super Power envoys pay unprecedented visit to Sri Lanka

Three High level diplomatic envoys of Global Super Powers the US, China and Russia will be arriving in SriLanka on Sunday the 12th night and tomorrow in an unprecedented offivial missions almost two months under the reign of new President Gotabaya Rajapksa.

The visits of there high-level diplomats to the island natiom will be significan against a backdrop where the US plans to restart economic talks with Chinaand US fueld Gulf ciris , political analysts said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is due to arrive in Sri Lanka Monday (January 13).

The Ministry of Foreign Relations announced that the visiting Russian Foreign Minister was to meet with the Sri Lankan President and the several high ranking officials of the government.

Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi is also due to arrive in the country tomorrow (January 13).

The Chinese FM will hold bilateral discussions with the President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells is also due to arrive in Sri Lanka tonight Monday (January 12).

The US Department of State says the Assistant Secretary of State will meet with senior government officials and members of civil society to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues.

These talks will be centred om shared interests of both countries in a free and open Indo-Pacific region that fosters prosperity, democracy, justice, and human rights.

Alice G Wells will also travel to India and Pakistan following her tour to Sri Lanka.
