India-Sri Lanka Student Exchange programme provides an opportunity to unleash the potential of youth in both countries to empower themselves and community around them.
It helps students to gain awareness on civic responsibility, culture, communication, rich diverse experience.
This programme will enable youth to develop and engage with social interactions to become a part of new generation change agent.
These youth exchange programmes are intended to open new avenues and strengthen cultural, educational and people to people ties between the two countries, Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka announced.
Under the Student Exchange Programme funded by India-Sri Lanka Foundation, a group of 10 students from St Patrick’s College, Jaffna visited India from 9th -15th December 2019.
This is in continuation of Youth Exchange Programmes facilitated by High Commission of India between the two countries.
Previously, High Commission of India had facilitated aYouth Exchange Programme between the students of Royal College – Colombo and students of The Lawrence School, Sanawar – India.
During their visit, Sri Lankan students interacted with students and teachers of Apeejay School, who shared best practices in the areas of Yoga, Public Speaking, and Science & Technology etc.
They also participated in practical sessions in Physics, Chemistry and Computer Sciences and received an opportunity to learn about STEM Robotics, 2D-3D Printing and Artificial Intelligence.
They gained knowledge on historical places by visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Delhi.
Students visited the homes of their Indian peers and had a glimpse of Indian culture and ways of life.
They also participated in cultural programmes and showcased the culture of both the countries. The exchange programme was concluded by conducting cricket and football matches between two schools which helped in strengthening the bonds of friendship.
Other youth exchange programmes with schools from Galle and Kandy are under discussion.
