United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Assistant Administrator and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific Kanni Wignaraja called on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday.
At the meeting, Wignaraja reinforced Sri Lanka’s longstanding partnership with UNDP while renewing the organisation’s commitment and engagement towards building a digital-driven, innovative, human-centric, greener development pathway for Sri Lanka.
The Premier, in a Twitter post, said they also discussed an array of issues such as Sustainable Development Goals, climate change, youth empowerment and reinforcing the private sector. Both delegations agreed to continue to work closely together.
Wignaraja was accompanied by UNDP Resident Representative in Sri Lanka Robert Juhkam and UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Sri Lanka Malin Herwig. Also present at the meeting were Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris and Secretary to the Prime Minister Gamini Senarath.
