The Government has made a decision to pay $ 6.7 million to the Chinese fertiliser company following the consultation of the Attorney General’s Department.
According to State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa, payment would be on the condition of Chinese company resupplying the fertiliser in conformity to Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) specifications.
The Government decision comes amidst legal and diplomatic battle over the validity of fertiliser import, its original rejection by the State and the Chinese firm warning of international arbitration over the matter.
