Health Minister Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi yesterday distributed nine Nissan Urvan vans among the provinces with the objective of maintaining the proper control of COVID and improving the health systems.
These vans, valued at around Rs. 90 million, were funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Health System Improvement Project and coordinated by the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Health has taken steps to provide these vans to the Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts of the Central Province, the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts of the North Central Province, the Badulla and Moneragala districts of the Uva Province and the Ratnapura and Kegalle districts of the Sabaragamuwa Province.
Maj. Gen. Specialist Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Systems Dr. Anil Dissanayake, Director of the Health System Improvement Project were also present at the occasion.
