The government is planning to invite a delegation from the European Parliament once the situation becomes normal for engagement on steps being taken to improve the areas of concern, Daily Mirror learns.
The European Parliament recently adopted a resolution on Sri Lanka. The resolution calls for, among others, the scrapping of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
The resolution calls for considering the removal of GSP+ trade concession unless Sri Lanka acts for the implementation of 27 international conventions. Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardane said the government had decided to revisit the PTA.“WE are ready to invite a team of EU parliamentarians,” he said. He also said Sri Lanka remains engaged with countries in the European Union.(KELUM BANDARA)
