Sri Lanka seeks WB loan to enhance state sector efficiency

The government is to implement a programme in cooperation with the World Bank and the European Union with the aim of increasing transparency and efficiency of the central government and public financial management.

Finance Ministery is to obtain US $25 million credit from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development entering into a financial agreement with the said bank.

It aims to introduce an e-procurement system, public financial management information system and an excise revenue management system as prominent information systems..

The programme is to be implemented after seeking the advice of the monetary board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka regarding the financial implications of such a loan.
