The first-ever airport hotel at the Bandaranaike International Airport has been announced to be operational by December next year.
Promoted by Colombo International Airport Hotels Ltd., the 185-room four star venture is poised to expand into a mega value addition to the expanding capacity of the BIA.
“We are especially pleased with the timing of this project. This will not only add value to the BIA but also offer a unique option for the Free Trade Zone visitors as well as transit, crew and business travellers. We are most delighted to partner with Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka Ltd. to build this on their own land. We are happy about the confidence placed in us by the people of Japan investing in the project and our well-wishers in Sri Lanka for their active support to make it a success,” CIAH Chairman Dr. Ruwan Perera said.
Dr. Perera is spearheading the project with his vast experience working at Sony Corporation in Japan as well as in Sri Lanka.
The principal architect for this project is Ichio Tetsuya from Ichio Kenchiku Kannkyou Sekkei based in Japan. CIAH also acknowledged and appreciated F. Michio who is a goodwill ambassador to Sri Lanka in Japan and also an ardent supporter and promoter of this project.
In addition to offering a long-waited value addition to BIA, the hotel will offer Superior, Deluxe and Suite rooms. The resort’s facilities include a spacious main pool, a gym, a spa, a MICE centre, crew lounge and a number of restaurants and bars along with a stunning rooftop leisure lounge, all set in a lush tropical ambience.
The company said after an exciting day exploring the island or arriving/departing from Sri Lanka on business or leisure, travellers could look forward to utmost convenience at a hotel designed to foster a welcoming and convenience next to the airport.
The Superior and Deluxe rooms are fitted with world class amenities four-star features while ensuring the best options for a sustainable hotel operation. The spacious Suites boast special bedding, wardrobe space, personal massage chairs and also separate meeting and dining areas.
“Together with Japanese collaboration, a renowned consultants group in Sri Lanka and a leading construction consortium will be responsible for the construction of the project with an aggressive and ambitious plan to start business by the deadline,” Dr. Perera said.
