The organisers of the Most Admired Companies Award – the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) and Daily FT, are delighted to have AIA Insurance on board as the Platinum Sponsor.
The awards are intended at recognising companies that are a cut above the rest in terms of not just their financial performance but also on the value they create in a sustainable and ethical way for their employees, customers, investors and the general community.
Companies that have been in business for over five years as at 30 June 2021 and are 30% or more of Sri Lankan ownership are eligible to enter this awards competition which is open to both listed and unlisted companies in Sri Lanka.
AIA CEO Nikhil Advani said in this regard, “As Sri Lanka’s Best Life Insurance Company for two consecutive years (recognised by the Global Banking and Finance Review for 2019,2020) and as a leading insurer globally, AIA appreciates that these awards recognise outstanding companies which achieve the highest of standards. We recognise the challenges posed by the pandemic to businesses and the overall economy and are delighted to be able to support, recognise and reward companies that were able to excel amidst these adverse circumstances. We also appreciate their contribution to the country’s economy and encourage them to continue their trajectories of financial excellence and ethical value creation, so that together we can revive the Sri Lanka we all love so dearly.”
AIA Director and Chief Officer Legal, Operations and External Relations Chathuri Munaweera added, “We take pride in being associated with this event, which recognises overall the business excellence of companies. We appreciate not just their financial performance but also the value they create for their shareholders, customers, employees and the wider community. With the challenges posed by the pandemic this year it becomes even more special and important to recognise efforts by corporates to drive sustainable impact and value to Sri Lanka. As one of the leading life insurers in the country we appreciate these efforts and it gives us great pleasure to support this initiative.”
ICCSL Chair Dinesh Weerakkody, FCMA, CGMA noted, “This pioneering initiative which rewards excellence across a number of performance criteria, is aimed at recognising companies with the strongest reputations, that inspire other organisations and entrepreneurs. This is also unique in that it facilitates and encourages unlisted companies which usually don’t get the recognition they deserve, although they contribute significantly towards the country’s economic growth.”He added, “We are delighted to have a company of AIA’s stature and repute on board for the 4th consecutive year to recognise and applaud companies that add significant value to the county’s economy and overall development. As platinum sponsor, AIA will not be a contestant for the awards but as a company AIA most certainly upholds the values of excellence required to be associated with an event of this nature.”
CIMA Sri Lanka Country Manager Zahara Ansary, FCMA, CGMA stated, “AIA has consistently partnered CIMA-ICCSL-Daily FT with the MAC Awards and we are grateful for their assistance throughout the years. They help recognise and motivate Sri Lankan organisations to achieve much more and their continuing advocacy helps to promote sustainable business practices as well as social responsibility.”
